This website includes Westy, an AI chat assistant designed to answer questions about Westside Atlanta Charter School (enrollment, programs, hours, fees, and similar school topics). Westy is intended for parents, guardians, and community members. It is not a tutor, counselor, medical or mental-health resource, or general-purpose assistant.
How Westy works:
- No login required. Westy does not ask for or store your name, email, or any account information. Conversations are anonymous from our perspective.
- Third-party processing. Messages you send to Westy are routed through the Vercel AI Gateway to Anthropic’s Claude language model. Per their respective policies, those providers may temporarily process and log inputs for safety, abuse-prevention, and service-quality purposes. Westside does not control those provider-side logs.
- No transcript retention. Westside does not save or store the content of Westy conversations in our own systems.
- Topic scope. Westy is configured to politely decline questions outside Westside school operations, including homework help, personal/medical advice, and general-knowledge questions.
- Safety routing. If a message appears to describe self-harm, abuse, or a similar urgent concern, Westy will not respond with an AI-generated answer. It will instead direct the visitor to call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911 in an emergency, or reach the school office at (404) 802-1350.
- Rate limiting. To prevent abuse and runaway costs, Westy limits how many messages a single visitor can send in a short period.
- Audience. Westy is intended for adults. Children should ask a parent, teacher, or counselor for personal questions.
